Water Aid and other Water Projects
Lions Water Aid sends money to the Water Aid organisation but can not decree where the money is spent. The present world action is focused on the Sudan please see the Water Aid website for details. Some Lions District 105W clubs run independent water projects in conjunction with Lions Clubs in other parts of the world.
There are over 80 different organisations trying to help street children and most of them are overseas actions, your Multiple District International Officers have looked at the responses from some clubs and the support given over the past few years. In response to the call that there were too many we have reduced the number of organisations recommended to three. Details of these will be found on the Street Children webpage.
School Aid Malawi
The student aid programme has now ceased and all the students we started with have reached the end of their schooling. To provide educational opportunities for Malawian children we are recommending the following groups who are working together to help promote education in Malawi and other countries in Africa School Aid based in South Africa is the avenue of choice at the moment, School Aid has an office in UK www.school-aid.org This will benefit from the 10 year Lions Reading Action program and clubs can use both organisations to send reading books if they so wish.
Clubs are encouraged to explore the benefits of Twinning on both individual and Zone/District level as this can lead to more effective help be given to definite projects. There have been some requests from Multiple District from clubs wishing to twin with UK clubs and these have been pasted on the Monthly News update, please let me know if you want further information. There is available a PowerPoint re: my visit to the Philippines available for use by Zones and Clubs, it highlights some of the projects seen on my two day visit to that part of the world. Many of the clubs there are interested in twinning with UK clubs. If you would like a copy please contact me at email@example.com and I will arrange to post you a memory stick as it is a little large for downloading.

Disaster Relief - Here

MD105 is trying to stock pile supplies for water purification systems (Jerry Cans and Tablets) so that we do not need to wait before responding in future, any help you can give will be most welcome.
We have also being charged with doing something in our own communities should a disaster occur closer to home, please could you nominate someone to be a contact person in your area. This is so we may be able to help with finding accommodation or help with accounting for people at rescue centres, etc.
